Restaurant Worker Forum

April 23 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Join us for a dynamic panel discussion with New York restaurant workers, owners, elected officials about the challenges faced by workers in the restaurant industry and policy that is moving to address these challenges.

The panel will be kicked off by clips from a recent film about restaurant workers, ‘La Cocina,’ and ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver’ on HBO, which featured the issue of tipping in restaurants. The panel will be led by Saru Jayaraman, attorney, author, restaurant worker organizer, and President of One Fair Wage, which advocates for livable wages and working conditions for workers in the restaurant industry nationwide, and is launching ‘Sanctuary Restaurants’ to address the needs of immigrant restaurant workers in particular. Come learn about how you can get involved in the fight for fair wages and better working conditions in the New York restaurant industry!
