LaGuardia Foundation ACE Scholarship

The LaGuardia Foundation offers scholarships to qualifying students in the Division of Adult and Continuing Education (ACE) who may be facing financial hardship that disrupts studies and training.
The ACE Scholarship provides partial tuition assistance to help you achieve your educational and career goals.

The Versant English test is a fast and accurate way to measure your spoken English skills. In less than 20 minutes, you can take the interactive test on a computer, and get a detailed score report with tips on how to improve your English speaking skills in the following areas:

CIET English and Civics

The English and Civics Program in the Center for Immigrant Education and Training (CIET) provides free English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses for adult English language learners. These ESOL classes are designed to help students from beginner to intermediate speaking levels to develop their English communication and computer literacy skills while gaining the tools needed to become more engaged and integrated into their communities as New Yorkers.

The Hotel T.E.A.C.H. Project Curriculum was developed by LaGuardia’s Center for Immigrant Education and Training (CIET) with industry partner Sheraton Manhattan Hotel with funding from the U.S. Department of Labor. Lessons are intended for instructors serving non-native English speakers who are currently working or preparing to work in the hospitality industry.

English for Workforce Development

Center for Immigrant Education and Training (CIET) at LaGuardia Community College offers a variety of courses that assist low-income English language learners in attaining the additional English skills that they need to advance in their careers. All CIET workforce courses train students to be knowledgeable in American workplace culture and to identify and make progress toward a relevant workplace credential. Students create career plans in order to set goals and reflect on skills they have gained from life and employment experiences, and as a foundation for future career steps.
