The LaGuardia Community College mascot, Rebel the Red Hawk, embodies our college’s core values and demonstrates school spirit and pride. Rebel’s role is to exemplify Red Hawk spirit by encouraging enthusiasm, athletic excitement, and LaGuardia pride, while representing the college at sporting, community, and college activities. Rebel energizes events by interacting with fans and participants. Tryouts
Students who want to be Rebel should demonstrate their abilities to entertain, interact with individuals and crowds, while exhibiting professionalism, following instructions, showing initiative, and participating with reliability in scheduled events.
Tryouts are held at the start of the Fall and Spring semesters. Students selected to be Rebel will be paid a stipend (per hour) for each appearance. Qualifications
- Current LaGuardia student or registered for at least 6 credits during Fall 2024
- Minimum 2.0 GPA required
- In good physical condition
- Animated, enthusiastic, and spirited
- Responsible and dependable
- Able to work in the confined head gear and clothing of the mascot outfit
- A height of 5’6” to 6’0” (to fit the costume)
- Sign the Rebel Pledge and adhere to all requirements
