Begin a career in plumbing with this hands-on training, which prepares you for entry-level positions in the field. The program includes OSHA 30 Hour certification and uses the industry recognized National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) Construction Core and Plumbing Level 1 curricula.

ACE Scholarship - Plumbing 1

The NYC Accelerated Workforce Recovery HUB offers scholarships to qualifying students in the Division of Adult and Continuing Education (ACE) who may be facing financial hardship that disrupts studies and training.

The scholarship provides full tuition assistance to help you achieve your educational and career goals. If awarded, it will cover:

100% of tuition for those earning under $35K

Course Fee without ACE Scholarship: $2496.

Eligibility:

  • You must be over 18 years old.
  • You must demonstrate financial need
  • You must live in the tri-state area

You may receive more than one ACE Scholarship per year as long as you have not exceeded the annual or lifetime cap amount.


Instructions:

2. Add the scholarship application to cart by selecting "Add to Cart."

3. elect "Checkout."

4. Answer the application questions.

5. Select "Place Order."

6. You have successfully applied for an ACE Scholarship. Do not register for the class yet. We will notify you when you can register for the class and make the payment.



Information Session: Electrical 1, Plumbing 1, & HVACR 1

Find out how you can begin or advance a career in the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC fields. Attend an Electrical 1, Plumbing 1, and HVACR 1 Information Session and learn about the curriculum, industry certifications earned after successful completion of our training programs, and potential scholarship opportunities. You will be asked to complete a virtual assessment as the first step in the application process. Attendance at an information session is required before registration.


Scholarships are available on a first come first serve basis. Information will be provided at the information session.



Plumbing 1

Begin a career in the plumbing field with this hands-on training course. You will learn about construction safety; construction math; plumbing drawings; plastic, copper, cast-iron, and carbon steel pipe and fittings; plumbing fixtures; water distribution systems; and drain, waste and vent systems. The course includes OSHA 30 hour certification and 10-hour Site Safety Training certification and uses the industry recognized National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) Construction Core and Plumbing Level 1 curricula. Tuition includes cost of books and materials. Payment plan available. This training is offered fully in person on LaGuardia Community College campus. REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma/equivalency or related work experience
  • At least 18 years of age

CAREER PROFILE

Potential jobs include plumber assistant, plumbing helper, apprentice and other similar positions paying $15-22/hour to start, with the possibility of on-the-job training and wage growth with demonstrated skills and commitment.

The median wage for plumbing helpers in New York City is $41,560; for plumbers it’s $76,410.

Construction is projected to be the fastest growing industry in New York City from 2014-2024, with projected growth rates for employment in the plumber, plumber helper occupations between 28-35%.
