About
Professor Andrea R. Irias was born in Hungary and raised in Queens, New York. She found her experiences as a LaGuardia student so transformative that she pursued her liberal arts education at Sarah Lawrence College. She came back to begin her teaching career in 2014, teaching First Year Seminar while attending the CUNY School of Law’s inaugural evening program. During her law clinic, Professor Irias worked on cases related to NY Mental Hygiene Law Article 81. In 2020 she was admitted to practice as a licensed attorney in the state of New York. In 2021 she joined the LaGuardia’s Assessment Leadership Team to deepen and improve assessment practice in her classrooms and across campus. She published “Assessment in the Paralegal Program” in The Legal Educator/American Association of Paralegal Educators (AAfPE). In 2022 she began to serve as Program Director for Paralegal Studies and continues to teach with a passion for student growth.
