Veterans Upward Bound Program: |
The Veterans Upward Bound Program is funded by the US Department of Education and serves military veterans, including Reservists and National Guards, with at least 180 days of active duty, other-than-dishonorable discharges and 8th grade or higher reading level. This program offers:
- Free evening College Prep and GED classes with continuous admissions from September to August.
- Computer skills training, including use of e-Portfolio to record progress.
- Career advisement and assistance with college admissions.
- Case management, tutoring, mentoring, follow-up and other support services.

Veterans Resource Center: |
LaGuardia's Veterans Resource Center is the lead agency for centers in the five boroughs, with funding from the New York City Council. Through outreach to military installations, veterans service organizations and agencies (with assistance from two Queens satellite sites: Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter # 32 and CUNY On Wheels which serves Far Rockaway), the Center:
- Provides updated information on available resources for returning soldiers, current veterans and their families.
- Offers direct services on education, benefits, career development, employment, and referrals for housing, mental and physical health, and other needs.
