Books, books, glorious books. The catalog is called CUNY+. You can search for books and other materials throughout the entire CUNY system.
Over 22,000 magazines and journals. The Library has an extensive collection of databases, accessible on campus or off. When you use a database from off campus your login and password are the same as for your GroupWise account. We continue to subscribe to many titles in paper copy.
Let your fingers do the walking. With the recent implementation of CLICS (CUNY Libraries Inter-Campus Services) you can have books sent from any campus to any other campus for pick-up and return. Find the item in CUNY+, go to the "Holdings" screen and click on Request to use this service. Details are here: www.lagcc.cuny.edu/library/clics/.
If you need a book or article not available through the CUNY libraries, you can use interlibrary loan to obtain a copy. The forms and more information are on the website at: www.lagcc.cuny.edu/library/forms/ill.htm
Electronic Reserves. You may place articles, practice tests, book chapters and other materials on reserve electronically for your students to read on any computer with Internet access, either on campus or at home. Faculty members can manage their own accounts, create courses and place materials on Reserve. If you have any materials you would like to place on reserve, please contact Scott White, swhite@lagcc.cuny.edu, x5441, or Tanya Smith at tmsith@lagcc.cuny.edu, x5426, or drop the material off for Tanya at the Circulation Desk, Room E-101.
RefWorks. This citation management program is available to you from the Library's home page, where you will find it on the left menu under "Library Resources." Once you have created an account you will be able to use RefWorks from off campus.
Class instruction. You may schedule a time for your class to meet with a librarian for help with library research. The request form is on the web page at: www.lagcc.cuny.edu/library/forms/lmrc.htm or call Louise Fluk or Bokul Bahar at x5476.
Suggest a book for purchase. You can contact the Collection Development Librarian by phone (718-482-5424) or email (adelaszlo@lagcc.cuny.edu). Books that support the College's curriculum and mission are given priority.
Portable laptop wireless classroom. The Media department in the Library has laptops for classroom use. If you are not in a Smart Classroom and need computer access for a lesson, you can request delivery of a cartload of laptops (for use in the E and M buildings only). The request form is here: www.lagcc.cuny.edu/library/media/#Portable_Wireless_Classroom.
Ask Us! You are always welcome at the Reference Desk, which is open whenever the Library is. And if you can't get to the Reference Desk, click the Ask-A-Librarian link on the home page, and submit your question via email Someone usually responds in less than a day.
